FAAA Reunion Weekend (2008) in BournemouthOver 100 members and their wives travelled from the four quarters of the UK and Canada to attend the 27th Reunion and Annual General Meeting of the Fleet Air Arm Association held at the Heathlands Hotel, Bournemouth during the weekend of 4th/6th April 2008. The Association’s chairman, Len Owen, Derby Branch, completed his two years in office during the weekend and at the conclusion of the meeting handed over to Brian Bingham (Ford Peregrine Branch). Brian thanked Len for his excellent stewardship of the Association and stated how much he is looking forward to serving the FAAA during his time in office, in particular, the forthcoming Centenary of Naval Aviation Year in 2009. The highlight of the reunion was the Dinner and Dance held on the Saturday evening; this was thoroughly enjoyed by all the veterans present and at which the Association members were delighted to receive their President, Vice Admiral Sir Adrian Johns, the Second Sea Lord, accompanied by Lady Suzie. After dinner Sir Adrian gave an excellent and informative presentation on the present activities of the Fleet Air Arm, its overseas commitments, plans for 2009 and the progress of the proposed new Carrier Force.
