We at the Telford and Wrekin District Branch welcome all who are linked to the Fleet Air Arm, both those who served and their families and friends who wish to join us. As we meet at Training Ship Wrekin we naturally have strong links with the Sea Cadets.

We also enjoy strong links with 705 Squadron at Defence Helicopter Flying School, RAF Shawbury and are always delighted when they invite us to visit them. Last time we were encouraged by the squadron to invite the Shrewsbury RNA to join us on our visit, in order to forge links with them. Everyone had a wonderful day, particularly flying the amazing simulators and visiting Air Traffic Control.

At least once a year we arrange a visit to the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas. We are very proud to have our own tree and plaque there, dedicated to those of our members who’ve ‘crossed the bar’. We were delighted when the plaque was moved from the perimeter of the arboretum last year to a new position very close to the Fleet Air Arm carrier and the Naval Services Memorial.

Among other activities, we also have an annual visit to the Birmingham Military Tattoo, joined by members of the RNA and RBL, with all our various Standard Bearers.

As with all branches Remembrance weekend in November is hectic, starting with the celebration of victory at Taranto with our Taranto Night Dinner, then after various Remembrance Day services, ending with a visit to Oakengates Theatre for a Festival of Remembrance.

If you would like to visit us with the view to becoming a member of our branch you will be more than welcome to join us in the Wardroom at TS Wrekin.
