P.O. RM (AW) Richard Malcolm Leece crossed
the bar on 15th July 2008 - virtually 64 years to the day he joined 1833
squadron on HMS Illustrious (17th July 1944) where he served in the
Pacific.
Richard’s funeral was held at the West Herts Crematorium on July18th.
The Standards of the FAAA and the RNA were paraded and Richard’s coffin
was draped with the White Ensign, his beret and his medals. Attendance
by the Family and Members of the two Associations was such that the
chapel could not accommodate all the mourners. However the chapel doors
were left open for the mourners left standing in the foyer of the chapel
to participate in the service. The service was conducted by the local
RNA Chaplain Richard Lewis
